What is your membership? Who are your members?

The Strategic Capability Network currently has over 600 members - senior business leaders from industry, government, non-profit groups, educational institutions, and consulting firms. We are also a proud affiliate of Human Resources Planning Society (HRPS).

The unifying trait is the recognition that strategic advantage can be derived from people and organizational capabilities.

Where do you have chapters?

Toronto, Calgary, London and the Waterloo & Wellington Region of Ontario are our main chapters, known to us as Regions. We have a developing presence in other Canadian cities, including the Ottawa and the Niagara regions.  

What is your programming focus?

Programming will continue to constitute the heart of the Strategic Capability Network.

The focus of our programming can be captured as: ‘Thinking in action for senior business leaders concerned with people and organizational capabilities’.

We believe that tomorrow’s world requires expertise and rapid progress in the following three areas, around which our programming is developed:

  1. Strategic Capability
  2. Organizational Effectiveness
  3. Leadership in Action

We hold events on a monthly basis. Members enjoy free access to most of these events

Programming - free access to events

We engage a vibrant community in exploring highly relevant topics with expert speakers and innovative thinkers around three strategic themes:

  1. Strategic Capability,
  2. Organizational Effectiveness, and
  3. Leadership in Action

Networking, Discussions & Peer Support

Many interactive opportunities exist to create a peer network with fellow senior business leaders facing similar organizational challenges including:

  1. business, government, non-profit groups, educational institutions, and consulting firms who are concerned with people issues
  2. an online member directory for non-commercial purposes

  4. began social networking – on line blogs facilitated by our thought leaders

Resources

  1. A download library is available for reference. If you miss an event, presentations are available.  In addition, we have access to presentations from other affiliates. 
  2. A member-only access to a free job posting board
  3. Access to corporate Sponsor surveys and research studies
  4. Toronto area members qualify to assist others in their organization to attend our events by adding a Corporate Subscription that allows them to invite three other people from the organization to any regular event at no cost. If the member and three guests attend all events the cost is less than $20 each.
  5. Established partnership with Canadian Human Resources Reporter (CHHR) to promote our 3 strategic themes
  6. NEW: Effective January 1, 2009, our members will have access to the following benefits via the HRPS website(www.hrps.org) once you receive your access password:
    • HRPS Knowledge Resource Center – This members only area gives you access to the best in strategic HR thinking
    • The Strategic HR Trend Newsletter, an electronic newsletter of in-depth and timely reporting on trends, research and insights within the five strategic areas of the HRPS Learning Agenda, to be emailed to all affiliate members bimonthly. (The HRPS Learning Agenda includes HR Planning and Strategy, Leadership Development, Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, and Building A Strategic HR Function)
    • One hardcopyPeople and Strategy Journal, to be distributed at one of our meetings per year for each attending member.
    • Online articles from People and Strategy Journal
    • Access to two teleconferences per year, to be used at two of our meetings
    • Human Capital Institute (HCI) membership with full access to their website. HCI is a think tank and research organization for the human capital and strategic talent management industries. 
    • Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) membership with access to the Strategy Pillar, 12 Knowledge Areas (Strategy Knowledge Centers). I4cp is one of the world’s largest private networks of corporations focused on improving workforce productivity.

Volunteering

SCNetwork is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization. Your membership gives you access to personal growth opportunities for volunteering, gaining visibility, making connections and giving back to your professional community.

  • Our membership dues are based on which region you choose to belong to.
     
    • Toronto Region's annual membership (January-December) is only $200 - Great Value! Or adding a Corporate Subscription brings the total to $1000 with added benefits .
       
    • Calgary Region's annual membership (January-December) is only $175.00
       
    • London Region's annual members (January-December) is only $100.00!!!
    • Waterloo & Welington Region's annual members (January-December) is only $100.00!!
       
  • And once again, contrary to many other associations, SCNetwork members enjoy free access to most events.
